First of all Geoff and I were on Shaw TV here in the Lower Mainland yesterday talking about Thwackers.
We shot an interview on Tuesday with reporter Melanie Pineda and cameraman/editor Jim Price. I went to school with Jim and was thrilled when he emailed me with the idea to do a story on Thwackers. We’re in a segment called “Hollywood North” which is a part of the show “The Express”. For those of you who missed it, we’ll be posting the clip on the website soon after. This is our first (hopefully of many) televised interview and we somehow managed to not look like total losers.
Geoff and I are also scheduled to appear on a gaming podcast called “Late Night Jenga Jam” next week. So far I’m not really sure how long we’ll be on for or when it’s going to air but I’ll find out more this weekend and be sure to keep you posted. This is also another first for us and should be a lot of fun. I really have no idea what to expect.
This month should also see the beginning or our t-shirt context with Jinx.com. We’ll be releasing a quick video with some info to help spread the word but basically we’re giving away a free shirt every 2 weeks and all you have to do is email in. All the details for that will be posted in the next week or so.
We’re also planning a big marketing push this month to get our name out to media outlets and influential websites. This summer at PAX we hooked up with a young woman named Jamie Dillion and she’s been hard at work on a Thwackers press package. We hope that this can really increase our profile because, as you know, right now we need our view counts to soar so we can start approaching potential sponsors to help with our very modest budget to keep the show going.
Geoff is also working at editing some behind the scenes clips together so we can show you some of the stuff that went on during shooting. We shot some interviews with the cast a little while ago that we’re going to use with the footage from set. Geoff has been working crazy hours at his real job so we don’t really have a timeline for these extras but we’re shooting for ASAP J
And there’s an update! Of course scripts are in the works for the rest of the season and there’s a new Machinima series idea Geoff is pushing for in the near future! So thanks to everyone who’s been with us so far, we really appreciate all the support you’ve given. I think 2010 is going to be a big year for us and it’s really exciting. We’ll be in touch,
PS – Don’t forget, vote for us in the Streamy’s every day until Jan 15. We’re shooting for Best New Web Series, Best Comedy Web Series and then all the individual awards for the cast and crew! Thanks for the votes.
